Golf Classic: Following on from the huge success of last year’s golf classic, we are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the event again this year in Thurles Golf Club. The event will take place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of May. We had many fantastic prizes last year and this year will be no different. The time sheet is now available and slots can be acquired from Martin Fahy on 087 2608780. We encourage people to get their slot as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Over 100 teams took part last year and we hope to see the same and more this year. A team of 4 costs just €120.

Tipperary Draw: The Tipperary Draw will be recommencing for 2014 in the coming weeks. If you have not been approached to renew your subscription please contact TF Stapleton

Senior Hurling: The north championship begins this weekend with 4 of 7 matches due to be played. Borris take on Moneygall in Dolla at 4pm on Sunday. This will be the second part of a double header with Roscrea taking on Kilruane at 2:30pm. We hope as many people as possible will get to Dolla to support the lads. The north championship has changed format this year. In round 1, there are 7 matches. Round 2 will consist of the 7 winners playing the 7 losers. If a team wins both their opening matches they are automatically through to the quarter finals. If a team loses both their opening matches they are out of the championship. If a team wins 1, and loses 1 they will go into a play off with teams who have done the same to see who makes up the remaining quarter final places.

Junior Hurling: Well done to our juniors who had a good four point win over Kilruane on Saturday evening. It was a strong and accomplished performance from the lads and are now on course to make the knock out stages of the league if they win their remaining games. The team that lined out is as follows: Gerry Treacy, Declan Ryan, Matty Vahey, Ciaran Hackett, Shane Kenny, Matthew Stapleton, Michael Ryan, Maurice Ryan, Tommy Kavanagh, Jack Hogan, Thomas Fahy, Keiran Maher, Benny Harkin, Cathal Bourke, Tommy Ryan. A date has yet to be set for our next game

U14 hurling: Hard luck to our U14s who lost in the Féile county semi final last Saturday. The game took place in Annacarty and in a tough and tight game we unfortunately came out the wrong end of a 1 point margin against Moyne-Templetouhy. Our attention now turns to the championship which commences soon.

Schools Hurling: Well done to St. Josephs College who captured the Fitzgerald Shield on Friday last in Nenagh against Borrisokane on a scoreline of 2-20 to 3-13. There were 7 Borris lads on the team and the team was captained by our own Eoin Stapleton. Well done to all involved

Inter County: Hard luck to all involved in Tipperary’s narrow 1 point defeat to Kilkenny on Sunday afternoon in Semple Stadium. The team was captained by Brendan Maher, who played a fantastic match at centre back and was awarded GAA Player of the week for his performance. Paddy Stapleton and Conor Kenny were also involved with the panel. Tipp’s next game will be the Munster  semi final against Limerick on June 1st in Semple Stadium

Development: As some of you may have seen, the ditch at the top end of the walking track has been removed and graded into a bank. This is just some of the continual work that is going on in our park. We also ask that people do not allow dogs on the walking track and that people refrain from littering. There are more developments due to take place over the course of the year and will be announced soon.
